Sketched Discussion: Why Tom Cruise is perfect for Oblivion

A lot of people have problems with Tom Cruise for one reason or another. If he's in a movie in which he plays the lead, it's probably a pretty big, mainstream, and possibly generic movie. When I first saw trailers for Oblivion, I wished for another actor in Tom Cruise's place, someone newer that didn't have all the Hollywood baggage. But after watching Oblivion, I realized he's the perfect fit. Why? Find out in my spoiler laden discussion!

He decides the only way to do this is to take money from a rich prick named Victor Kershaw (Tony Shalhoub) with his bodybuilding pals, Adrien (Anthony Mackie) and Paul (Dwane Johnson). Horrible, terrible things ensue.

Oblivion

In the far flung future, after war with an alien race known only as Scavs, Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) and Victoria (Andrea Riseborough) make up a team of techs stationed on Earth to repair damaged drones. They're only two weeks from joining the rest of the survivors on Titan, but Jack wants to stay on Earth. After he makes a frightening discovery, he'll question his entire mission.

The Limey

When Wilson (Terence Stamp) gets out of jail and finds his daughter has died in an "accident," he travels to L.A. to find out what really happened. With the help of a cook, Eduardo (Luiz Guzman), and his daughter's acting teacher, Elaine (Lesley Ann Warren), Wilson goes on a violent killing spree to seek revenge for his daughter's death on the sleazy guy she was seeing, Terry Valentine (Peter Fonda).
